Joshua and his wife Tisha are happily married and the parents of two amazing daughters.
Joshua was raised in a liberal Jewish household. His family encouraged critical thought and analysis. Through study and life experience he has come to define his life philosophy as humanism. You can read about humanism and its aspirations here. He is also an active practitioner and proponent of mindfulness meditation.
He trained to be an officiant with John Figdor, the humanist chaplain at Stanford University as well as the Kochhar Humanist Education Program of the Humanist Institute. He has begun humanist chaplaincy certification training this year as a Clinical Pastoral Education student at Beaumont Hospital.
He is certified by the Humanist Society, an adjunct of the American Humanist Association and has officiated numerous ceremonies in Los Angeles, Savannah and around the country. He was recently elected to the board of the Humanist Society, and is a contributor to the Humanist magazine and TheHumanist.com.
His background also includes 11 years in New York as an actor and theater producer, 10 years in Los Angeles working as an administrator at Stephen Wise Temple, the largest Reform Jewish Temple and private school in Los Angeles, and the past four years in Los Angeles performing at over 600 birthday parties for children.
Joshua officiates humanist weddings, celebration of life memorials, coming of age and naming celebrations and crafts custom ceremonies for any life-cycle event. Joshua is delighted to work with LGBTQ and intercultural couples.
